FIREWIND Prepare To Record New Album

January 26, 2006

Guitarist Gus G. (ex-DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY) of the Greek/Swedish power metallers FIREWIND has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"We thought we'd give you an update on what's going on in the FIREWIND camp right before the recordings [for the fourth album] start in Gothenburg, Sweden. Basically, it's been pretty crazy ha ha! Bob [Katsionis, keyboards] and Mark [Cross, drums; ex-HELLOWEEN, METALIUM] arrived from Athens a few days ago and we've been rehearsing day and night, nailing the new material. It sounds pretty massive already in the rehearsal room and it's very exciting just to think of what the final master could sound like!! The songwriting is very strong and this time everyone has contributed in the material.

"We will depart on February 4th for Sweden and we'll be there for a whole month where we'll finish the production, as well as do a new photo shoot and a video clip.
But more on that, later. We plan to give u a weekly studio update once the recordings start."

FIREWIND will record the new album at GM Recordings and will mix the effort at Studio Fredman with Fredrik Nordström and Patrik J. Sten. The mastering will take place early March in Stockholm with Peter in de Betou at Tailor Maid Productions. A late May/early June release is expected.

FIREWIND recently announced the addition of singer Apollo Papathanasio (ex-MAJESTIC, TIME REQUIEM) and drummer Mark Cross. The band plan to make their live debut with the new lineup at ProgPower UK festival on March 25.

FIREWIND's third album, "Forged by Fire", received its long-overdue U.S. release in July 2005 via Magick Records (a division of Cleopatra Records).

Gus G. toured with ARCH ENEMY on Ozzfest 2005 as the group's touring guitarist after Christoper Amott bowed out of that band in order to "fully concentrate on his studies at home in Sweden," according to ARCH ENEMY axeman Michael Amott.
